Welcome to the weekend

What a crazy but good week. Somehow it was very productive but not very stressful. I wish I could figure out how to make all busy weeks strike that balance.

Today was actually a slow day for me so after lunch I rode around with Matt while he made his rounds and we checked out a rental house we might buy.

While we were in the car he gave me a brief lecture on the Dark Ages. He does this all the time. You might start out talking about anything and before you know it you're getting a Matt Mini-Lesson/Opinion(TM) on the Roman Empire, constellations, Greek mythology, black holes, a law of physics, Jesus, politics, taxes (God forbid), time travel, or a thousand other topics. Thankfully, he usually spares me sports trivia.

He has excellent retention of things that interest him. It's like being married to my personal Wikipedia: He seems to know something about almost everything, and although I can't always verify the accuracy of what he's telling me, I tend to think he's a reliable source.

Now I'm waiting for Kate to meet me at the office. We're going to do her eight-mile downtown loop even though it's still hot, then we're going to check out our town's First Fridays thing. All of the downtown art galleries, bookstores, wine bars, etc. are supposed to be open until 8 p.m., plus there's going to be a band and activities for children and food.

It's supposed to happen the first Friday of every month through September this year. I think events like this really make a town and I hope people come out for it.
