10 more minutes

Let's try this again. Maybe at the beach I'll have time to focus on writing, but until then, I guess something is better than nothing.

Yesterday we went to the Raeford branch of the Sandhills Regional Library System. It's about a 25-minute drive from the house, so normally we don't go there, but it's worth it before a trip. For whatever reason, they always seem to have books available that Matt and I want. We also got some at the Aberdeen SRLS branch and at the Sandhills Community College library.

It would be nice to have everything in one spot, but I'm just glad to have access to free books -- I don't mind driving a little for them. I got some good ones:

"Imperfect Birds," Anne Lamott
"Noah's Compass," Anne Tyler
"Patron Saint of Liars," Ann Patchett -- all these Ann(e)s!
"The 19th Wife," David Ebershoff
"The Last Time I Saw You," Elizabeth Berg
"Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things," Randy Frost and Gail Steketee
"The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder," Rebecca Wells

Plus I have "The Politician" (Andrew Young), thanks to Sonya, Real Simple, thanks to Amanda, Modern Reformation, thanks to Drew, and Carolina Alumni Review. I don't expect to finish all of these by Tuesday, but I do intend to try!

P.S. I have missed several birthdays in the past week, so a belated shout-out to Meg, Lib and Carrie. And, most impressively, Grandpa Loyd -- who's now only four short years from the century mark! You can't buy that kind of longevity.

The bookclub I was in read Patron Saint of Liars and The 19th Wife. I'll be interested in hearing what you think of them.

I just got an Anne Tyler book at Tucker Jo's the other day. Weird. I think it's 'Breathing Lessons'. I also bought 'On Agate Hill'. Just started it this week. I love reading at the beach.
