Jennslist?

I would like to take this opportunity to say I LOVE CRAIGSLIST! I have been looking for something extremely specific for a Christmas gift (for someone who reads this blog, so I can't get into specifics). After several dead-ends, tonight I posted a "want" ad on the Raleigh Craigslist thinking there was no chance but I might as well try -- the ad being free and all.

Two hours later I got a response from a dude who has this item and is going to GIVE it to me! I cannot believe my luck.

This is the second time I've used Craigslist and the second time it's totally come through for me. The first time was when we lived in Fayetteville and I was on one of my "I'm going to learn Spanish, and I mean it this time" kicks (I go through these phases every year or two).

I had borrowed Pimsleur CDs from the library and knew that method worked really well for me, but after I'd completed the 30 lessons the library had in stock I was stuck because I couldn't afford to buy the more advanced lessons on my own. I posted a request on Craigslist and probably a week later had in my possession about 120 Pimsleur lessons on CDs some generous person burned for me, also at no charge.

So, let's summarize:

a) It's easy to be cynical, but everywhere there are people being generous and kind with no ulterior motives.
b) It never hurts to ask!
c) Craigslist rocks. Why doesn't the Sandhills have its own? Should I start a Jennslist for our area?
d) I have a moral obligation to complete all 120 of those Spanish lessons eventually.

Yes, this is my second post today. Apparently that's how I roll when Matt's out of town. Tomorrow you can probably expect, like, five.

You need to talk to Marla. They use Craigslist all the time. She even got nice carpet for the boy's room for free!

I just deleted a really long post I was typing. I'll try to remember it.

I love Craig's list - it all started in Charleston because that's what EVERYONE used. I am actually still trying to get over something I passed up a few weeks ago (a glider rocking chair). I wanted to wait on it for a couple of reasons and now all the ones on there are ugly.

When we were at the beach we saw an ad for Angie's List (for contractors) and I said, "Oh, there's Craig's wife!" Hehe.

Anyway, congrats on good CL finds!
