Progress

It came down to the wire, but thanks to a barrage of semi-desperate calls, four very friendly firemen, and a bag of biscuits to bribe them to do our smoke-detector inspection first thing this morning, we got our certificate of occupancy before lunch. Which is good, because you're required to have that before you can start moving stuff in.

We had already bent that rule with the boxes we'd moved in the last few nights, but I don't think we could have gotten away with completely moving in. If something had gone wrong with the inspection this morning, they wouldn't have been able to come back out and reinspect until NEXT Thursday, meaning we wouldn't have closed tomorrow, we would have lost the lock on our interest rate, etc. So I am really, really happy that the smoke detectors worked. Also, they will come in handy if we ever have a fire.

The movers took about four-and-a-half hours and now "all" that's left is to unpack and organize. This stage is the only part of moving I actually enjoy, especially since we for once have enough room for everything. (Cable isn't hooked up yet, but we swung by the office after lunch so of course I'm using this time to blog ...)

Missed you guys last night but it gives me a good reason to stop by your house to see you. I am glad the move is over. Have a blessed Christmas. Love Gail

Yippee! We're thrilled that you're moved in and we look forward to many special family times at your new home as we've enjoyed at Amanda and Stephen's new house and at your "old" house. Merry Christmas, BTW.
Love, Dad
