Quickie

Apologies if you were under the impression I gave up blogging for Lent. Actually, I've just been busy and blogging has been low on my priorities list. The less I blog, the less I feel like anything is worth being blogged about. If you blog every day, you don't have to say much in any given post. But if you keep people in suspense for a week, they might expect you to write something of substance when you reappear. That's the problem.

Everyone around here has been miserably sick with this nora virus thing. Fortunately, we have managed to stay mostly well. Claire actually ran a low-grade fever (100.6) on Saturday for the first time ever. She napped about twice as much as usual all weekend, and she was exceptionally fussy and clingy. I think teething contributed to it and she may have had a little bug on top if that, but by Monday she was better and on Tuesday she was probably the happiest I have ever seen her. She literally did not whimper, fuss or cry one time all day, and she kept lighting up the room with her smiles. I really think she was just grateful to be feeling good again.

I have to brag on myself really quick. Sorry, but it's my blog and my prerogative. :) Yesterday at CrossFit I did 75 pullups without using any band! This is the first time I've done a whole workout that involved pullups without using a band for at least some of them. Most of them were kipping pullups, which some purists don't consider "real" pullups, but I sure as heck do. The strange thing is that I never got that good at pullups when I went to CrossFit pre-Claire, but since I've been going back the past month or so, suddenly they're pretty easy for me. Maybe it's a fringe benefit of carrying her around in that baby carrier all the time.

Claire's awake. More in less than a week, I promise.

Oh, I totally understand! The less often you blog, the more it seems like you have to write something amazing when you do. Otherwise, people are going to think, "Really? She broke the silence for THIS?" :)

I either have lots to say or nothing. Seems I can't win either way.

Both you AND Claire are impressive. Glad you've got your priorities right-- and I had several days between my most recent posts, too. You made me feel better.
