Hickory?

Several years ago, after Matt and I were married but before we had the slightest notion that we'd wind up doing what we're doing where we're doing it, we took a quiz at a nifty site called FindYourSpot.com. This site questions you about everything from what kind of weather you prefer to how you spend your free time, then spits out a list of places it thinks you'd like to live.

Back in the day, the No. 1 town this site recommended for us was Hickory, N.C. Yesterday I took the quiz again after Kate linked to it in a post on her wonderful preservation blog, and I was surprised that Hickory again came up as the top spot for me. (Hendersonville, N.C., and Greenville, S.C., were also in my Top 10, as were four cities in California and one each in Georgia, Utah and Oregon. I told Spot to eliminate big cities as well as anything in the desert or the plains, but otherwise, the results were based solely on my answers to the quiz questions.)

I may have driven through Hickory and Hendersonville, but I've never spent extended time either place; maybe I should. As most of you probably have picked up on by now, I LOVE Greenville, so that was a great call by the site.

If you take this quiz, let me know where Spot places you!

My top cities are not what I would have guessed....Little Rock; Honolulu (I'll take that...at least for a year); St. George, Utah; San Bernardino, CA; Baton Rouge; and Houston. The list really starts to go downhill after that....

1. Hickory, NC (maybe we should both move there??)
2. Walla Walla, Washington
3. Morganton, NC
4. Cedar City, UT
5. Fredericksburg TX
6. Paris, TN
7. St. George UT
8. Branson, Missouri
9. Greenville, SC
10. Kerrville TX

Later on were many more NC and VA cities. That sounds about right to me!

Ally: St. George was my No. 4 and San Bernardino was my No. 8. Your list makes me curious to recalculate mine without eliminating big cities.

Amanda: Hickory for you too, huh? Road trip! :)

Interesting. When I redid the quiz with no changes except to allow big cities, Hickory dropped to No. 12 and my top 5 became:

1. St. George, Utah
2. San Bernardino, Calif.
3. Ventura, Calif.
4. Greenville, S.C.
5. Asheville, N.C.

If nothing else, this is a good way to get vacation ideas.

Hi - this is pretty cool!

1. Billings, Montana
2. St. George, Utah
3. Ogden, Utah
4. Roanoke, Virginia
5. Loveland, Colorado
6. Fort Collins, Colorado
7. Provo-Orem, Utah (what kind of a name is THAT??!!)

I also got a couple of other neat looking Montana spots! Asheville and CHATTANOOGA was my next to last! heehee. Thanks for the link!

Asheville was one of my locations and it's where I live, so I guess I was meant to be here!

With all but SE & SW

1. Helena, MT
2. Palmer, AK
3. Montpelier, VT
4. Couer d’Alene, ID
5. Dillon, MT
6. Brattleboro, VT
7. Middlebury, VT
8. Lewiston, ME
9. Spearfish, SD
10. Springville, UT

Even when removing other regions, it’s pretty much all the same. That’s probably because I “disagree” with the long, hot summer thing. And I love the cold, snowy winters. And there are 3 VT towns in there! Too bad Burlington didn’t come up, but it’s looking like a sure sign that we’re meant to head to VT. =)

Haven't taken the test--because they probably haven't heard of Murdocksville. But Mom and I spent the first night of our honeymoon in Hickory!
